One of the joys of being a fervent rummager is that you sometimes unnearth some gems. These two etchings were found in a antiques/junk shop, in dirty, broken frames and thoroughly unloved. There was a third image but it had been so badly treated that it had torn. I managed to get the vendor to lower his price to a reasonable £90 for the two and asked my partner to reframe them for me. My apologies for the glare on them as they were photographed behind glass. They come from a series by the Cypriot artist Panayiotis Kalorkoti and are his taken on some famous works of art and their artists. The first is called 'Matisse' and the second is obviously 'Whistler' and his mother. I just love their quirkiness and the muted colour palette. Also, the way the artists are seen either engaging or not in their subject matter.
