I was rudely woken up at just gone 7am this morning by the screeching racket from a mob of seagulls. On looking out of my kitchen window, i could see perched on the neighbour's roof was, what i at first thought to be an egret. It was crouched down with its head tucked into its chest feathers. Overhead was a gang of seagulls dive-bombing as close as they dared. Then he stood up. A tall, proud heron - much larger than an egret. I managed to snap a couple of pics through the glass of the kitchen window, but then attempted to open it quietly and managed to scare the bird off.Sunday, 8 March 2009
