inspired by things heavenly

If you've seen the pic on this blog called "Underground Icon" by Trademark (Mark Wardel), you'll realise that i like alternative representations of spiritual icons and religious figures. Trademark was exploring what it means to be an Icon in our modern age and today what cuts the mustard is good looks and celebrity, not anything more meaningful. I thought i'd look at this idea myself with these two religious figures (obviously from the same figure pose).
One thing i love about monoprinting is that you can take a print and then use the remaining ink/paint to create something else, by adding splodges of extra colour, scoring more lines and patterns etc. Here are two variations on an angel theme.





Lastly, i have a thing about wings and winged mythical creatures ( i was watching the "Clash of the Titans" on telly the other day and remembered how much i loved the image of Pegasus when i was a kid). Here is an image that just grew out of a doodle of wings.
